How Notebooks Are Made: A Behind-the-Scenes Look at Premium Journal Crafting
How an A5 Hardcover Lined Notebook Is Made
Ever wondered how your favorite hardcover lined notebook is created? Whether you're a stationery lover or a curious creator, understanding the notebook production process reveals just how much care goes into every page.

Paper Selection
Every notebook begins with choosing the right paper. High-quality 80–100 GSM paper is selected for its smooth texture, bleed resistance, and durability.
Page Arrangement
The sheets are folded into organized groups called signatures. These mini booklets allow the notebook to open flatter and keep its shape over time.
Cutting & Trimming
The pages are trimmed precisely to A5 size (148mm × 210mm). Clean, accurate edges give the notebook a crisp, professional look.
Sewn Binding
Unlike glued notebooks, sewn binding uses thread to stitch the signatures together. This makes the notebook durable and ideal for regular use.
Adding the Endpapers
Decorative endpapers are glued to the first and last pages. These enhance the notebook’s look and reinforce its structure.
Cover Board Assembly
The hardcover is made using 2mm–3mm thick greyboard, strong enough to protect the pages while staying lightweight.
Gluing the Spine
The sewn book block is glued to the hardcover at the spine, binding everything into a complete, high-quality notebook.
